Personal Blog#13 12/19-12/22

It was a really short week so there wasn't much going on. Monday and Wednesday we went to the Art room and we're working on our scratch art pictures. I'm so excited to see how they turn out! On Monday we had the a lot of the time to work on finishing out outlines for the presentation. Tuesday we got 15 minuets to go over our presentation's. After those 15 minuets we presented them, I think we did alright on our presentation but I know we could have done better. On Tuesday Mr. R came back! I'm so happy that he is back, nothing was right when he was gone and like the whole Academy was just like wrong. Wednesday we were given our Semester Exam Final Project and I'm so nervous about it, also the fact that it's our finals and it's completely new to me. Then Thursday we went to Mr. Mechenich's room to finish up our crystal things and write a refelection. After we went back to the room and Ms. Miller's sub gave us a lesson on commas.

Water Bottle presentation

There was a lot that I learned the past two weeks and in everyone's presentations. From Pete's presentation I learned that coke can clean toilets and engines but that's about it. Bottles have a lot of ups and downs, like they can be full of bacteria and chemicals. They can damage the environment and are very money costing but I'm still for water bottles and will be because it's a lot safer, healthier, and can become a nice profit to the school.

Personal Blog#12 12/12-12/16

On Monday we worked on the periodic table activity and then we got work time to work on our speech outlines for English. Tuesday we went to art and did some final touchups on our poster's for our water presentations. After we finished that we got to choose a black and white picture if our choice, with that we are going to be doing these scratch out things. I have done one before but it gave me the lines to scratch out, not ones were I have to do it from my perspective. I'm excited but really nervous at the same time. After art we got even more work time to work on our water presentations. Wednesday we had to do parts 3, 4, and 5 in our periodic table activity's. After we got to work on our presentations, then around 1:30 the president of Hartland's Water Works came in and gave us a presentation, he then answered any of our questions we had for him. It was cool to hear were Hartland gets it's water, how it all works, and what they do if it's contaminated. Thursday we split up into 3 groups. One person from each group got to go to the Delhart water and Sewer Center, one of the other people had a meeting with Mr. Libscomb, and then the rest of the kids had to stay back and got to work on the presentation and their art poster's. The Delhart trip was awesome! It was so cool to see the building and get all of our questions answered. Friday, we had a periodic table quiz and I hope I  did good on it. Then we had a huge discussion about all the trips and activities on Thursday. It was a pretty eventful week but it was still pretty fun.

Personal Blog#11 12/5-12/9

On Monday we two different groups switched between Social Studies and English. Then they gave us work time for our project with the water presentation. Tuesday we spent two hours in Mr. Mechenich's room reviewing Atom information, after we walked to Hartbrook park and collected data from the bark river. That was so much fun but it was so cold at the same time. When we walked back we each had to carry a gallon of water but sense some people were suborn and disrespectful, a couple other people and me had to carry two. Wednesday most of the time we got work time and for like 20 minuets we went to Ms. Miller's room to get a lesson on paragraph writing/format. Thursday we went to Mr. Mechenich and got a nice long lecture, My favorite. After we went to the room and had the rest of the hour's to work on our project. Friday we met in the North Campus computer lab for art, we are working on posters for our water testing. 9th hour we got to work time and 10th hour we had a huge English lesson.

Personal Blog#10 11/28-12/2

On Monday when we got to class the teachers gave us, I think 72mins to work on the following; Of Mice and Men, River paragraphs/Importance, and Science Atomic Theory paragraphs. It was nice to have all that work time to do those assignments. Of Mice and Men is now my favorite book, but it did make me very, very upset at the end. After our work time everyone got split up into 3 groups and went with three different teachers. First I went to Mr. M's room and we conducted another science experiment with different types of water. After we went to Ms. Miller's room and corrected ours and someone else writing prompt. I think I did pretty good on it, I just have to work on details and a couple other things. Also we did another writing prompt for Mrs. Miller then on Friday we watched Of Mice and Men, which is an amazing yet depressing movie. In Art this week we started our video presentations for the 8th grade middle school's about ILA.

Personal Blog#9 11/21-11/23

This week was a three day week and basically all we did was have a bunch of work time which was awesome! Monday we went to Mr. M's room and retook the Matter quiz then we had work time to work on OMAM and the Social Stupids paragraphs. Tuesday we went to Mr. R's room and watch a video on rivers and why they are so important. After we went back to the room and got more work time. Today we are going to lab A and preforming our skits about the scientist we picked and researched about. I am so not looking forward to that! Before we do our skits for the sophomores we have to go to art to work on our video that is going to go to the middle schools and the little 8th graders are going to watch our videos about ILA. I hope they turn out really well! I love doing things like this!

Personal Blog#8 11/14-11/18

Monday in ILA we took a test for Matter and Short Story terms. Between Monday and Friday we had a lot of work time to the Think Globally and Act Locally presentation. Thursday we retook the english test if we  didn't pass it the first time and retook the Matter test on friday. Thursday we went to art and finished our clay models and I must say they worked out really well. The test for the geography was on Wednesday. The whole presentation assignments is going really well and it's nice hews giving us more freedom and not many due dates! It's pretty awesome! And the book "Of Mice and Men" is just amazing! I love the book! It's also nice that we also have some what freedom with it too! It's awesome too taking quizzes, which we also took today, and taking notes to help me either understand the book in a different way, think about the book in a different way, or just keep track and find things easier. This week was nice and went smoothly! I like weeks like this!

Personal Blog#7 11/7-11/11

This week was more Science and Art than anything else. It was a change but it was pretty cool. In science we did another lab that deals with matter, atom, element, and compound but all week with science we were dealing with those science terms and taking a quiz on them on Monday. For art this week we have been cutting out clay and making those science figures with them and we starting to put them together. (Sorry forgot the term that we call those shapes)

For Social studies and English we took a quiz for Social Studies and read two chapters on the government. Now the nest week or two we have to work on the presentation that Mr. R put up called Acting locally and   Globally. Which is pretty difficult for me because I suck at social studies and it's just pretty hard for me. Now for English we are still working on Of Mice and Men stuff. We also just did a presentation on mental disabilities and other groups did it on John Steinbeck, Migrant workers, Women's rights, and Salinas California. The group presentation was difficult because you had some people actually work but others played games the whole time or didn't follow directions. Now on Monday for English we have a quiz on different elements of a short story.

Personal Blog#6 10/31-11/4

This week we only had ILA four times this week so it was a change. One of the days we finally wrote up the constitution for libya. It like in a way went smoothly but yet a bunch of groups didn't work or up as much as they could into their section. I also think the constitution was actually pretty good and it was a fun thing to do because I have never written one before.
Another day we went to Mr. Mechenich's room to set up our crystal growing lab and it was actually really fun! I'm excited to see how the crystals turn out but I bet Jakes and mine won't even grow any because we couldn't get a crystal on the string. Next week should be interesting because all week it's switching off between science and art!
Friday we then went to Ms. Millers room and got into our groups and we all chosen a question then did a bunch of research on it. After we left Ms. Miller we went to Mr. R's room and watch a really boring video on the government and nature and all that fun stuff!

Personal Blog#5

Last week we had to present in front of the Arrowhead school board and boy was that interesting! I was nervous and freaking out before we presented because I can't stand to present to my own class mates so like I knew I couldn't do it in front of 5+ people who is very important to Arrowhead! Though in the end we did great! We knew what we were talking about and answered all the questions the best we could and I wasn't even nervous until after we presented! All in all it was pretty fun! Other than that it was a pretty short week and we spent the two days before our big presentation practicing and preparing for our presentation.

Personal Blog#4

This week has been interesting. Trying to get the new project done and Acceptance at once is stressful. The new project is going great though! Lauren and I work well together and are getting a lot of things done. Today was confusing on how to put our information into a data table! That will be interesting. We have almost everything done we just have to finish the data table and finish with the presentation! Im very extremely insanely scared to present in front of the school board! I have always been scared to present in front of people and it doesn't help that my partner hates presenting too! Now presenting should be very interesting!

Personal Blog#3

The field trip to apple was soo awesome! I grew up with Macs because my grandpa ran MacCetera and he was very well known by everyone at the Apple store. When we went to the Apple store it brought back many memories of him, it was also awesome to be able to try out the new iPad 2 and the new iPhone coming out, getting a tour in the back room was way cool because I always wondered what was back their. It's insane how 6 people run a bunch of the sales and goes to schools to help pay or make a deal on getting a bunch of Macs.

On the other hand reading Acceptance is getting too crazy. Trying to finish it by Wednesday plus get two projects done and my other subjects homework done is getting frustrating and really stressful. Acceptance is a pretty good book. It's starting to encourage me early to get into some classes or activities that look good on collage apps and get good grades for them. The book is also getting me really nervous for senior year!

Personal Blog#2

This week had been pretty laid back and nice! I love the fact that the teachers are giving us a lot of work time which also gets me frustrated to see other students fooling around or not taking the time and using it wisely so I'm nervous that the teachers will take the time away which will make life so much more difficult for me. The recent project that the teachers assigned to us was the product testing project and my partner and I basically finished the whole project except the conclusion, analysis, and the graph. The commercial, the experiment, and the research went really well and got that cranked out within the first two/three days. I'm also extremity excited to go on the field trip to Apple! My grandpa was such a Mac geek and he knew just about everyone that worked there and his friend works there now. My whole family is in love with Apple so the fact that I get to go there and work with some of the employees is awesome and my families pretty jealous.

Weekly Blog

This week has been interesting. The lectures each day kind of are getting old already. At north Shore we got at least 5 lectures a day and that's one thing that I'm not a big fan of. The new project is really cool and I'm so excited to get started! Some of the projects that other students are doing are awesome and I can't wait to see their results. All the blogs, the new acceptation book readings, and all the new homework is going to need a lot of getting used to! I know I'll get it down after like a week or so but it's just going to suck.(:

Personal Blog

The most recent projects were Libya and Laws. The Libya project was easy yet challenging because I had troubles summarizing the timeline but it was easy having other group members helping and splitting the work so there wasn't much to do. The Laws project was difficult. The last time I did a reference was 6th possibly 7th grade so I forgot a lot and needed to brush up on old information. Also it was difficult finding laws and what amendment went with what and actually looking for the right amendment. I love working with people though so the Libya project was nicer than the Laws project.

Analysis Science

1. There both similar because both refer to the quality of a measurement.
2. Both come out to an exact measurement but a triple beam balance is accurate and precise and the electronic balance is accurate but not precise.
3. All numbers before or including the zero if it has a decimal after or before or it has a repeating sign. Example; 122.01 has 5 sig figs or 122 has 3 sig figs.
4. 2 Liters of water is about 2,000mm
5. How to measure volume I never truly understood that. Also how to read a triple beam balance and how to use and read the calipers.

Achieve 3000; Ipad response

I believe that the Ipad is a great device for our academy learning environment. I've had one before we sold it and it was awesome! I also believe that laptops will always be the best thing for the academy. Ipads won't be able to do everything, nooks are for reading, and ipod touches/phones are also very small and you also can't do everything with those.

Ropes Course

The ropes course was awesome! I totally forgot how much of a rush it was and how like much adrenaline you get! I love doing those things and the chance of actually climbing and being pretty high! The view was just gorgeous, and watching Jackson climb up that pole and go do the course was just phenomenal! If I could i would just spend the whole day there.
       What I learned was more of peoples names, how to problem solve, and how to work together. It was pretty challenging trying to get everyone to get through the rope especially when someone was purposely trying to make us fail. It had a lot of challenges and stuff to get you thinking out of the box. Also it had a lot of fun and amazing things! All I know is I had a blast! I would love to do that again!

Design A Room

      I worked with Sara, Emma, and Halie. We all worked very well together and got along great! It was nice to get to know them a bit more too. We all communicated very well, when someone didn't like an idea we would tell each other, when someone took an idea someone else might have made it a bit better we would speak up.
       I believe the reason we did this was to see how creative or how further we could think outside the box. Also to see if we could use our resources and surroundings. It was a great and fun project and it was so amazing how you teachers put 4 subjects together and didn't have to do 4 other reposts/projects.
