The first two PSA's that impacted me the most were Lauren's and Emma's. They impacted me the same way by being really inspiring, easy to understand, and having a lot of information. The music that they also picked for their video's went with the subject and everything just mashed perfectly together. The third PSA that impacted me was Sara's because it was something new and wasn't like any of the others, also it also had a lot of information and makes me want to help recycle.
Alex's PSA and Jeff's PSA could have been a little longer, have more information, and more eye catching. River's PSA also could have had a little more information. Their PSA's were really nice but they could have had a little bit more time put into them.

Earth Inter. Blog Relection
During my project I discovered that chemical fertilizers are hazardous and can even be deadly. There are two major chemicals that are made up in fertilizer that can be dangerous to humans, aquatic life, and animals. Even though fertilizers do help your plants grow, it is very bad for the environment. In my book it really has nothing to relate to my project or all the information I'v collected does not relate to my book. This project really didn't change anything for my family but after I found out what the chemicals do to our environment makes me not want to use them and I hope my PSA will make others not want to use them either. Living green really doesn't impact me and I kind of don't care that much but going green would be really good for our world especially sense global warming is right around the corner. What got in the way of my project was somedays it was hard to go water my plants and me not being focused during work time was bad. There was also ease because there was a lot of information on the different chemicals and fertilizer also the teachers gave us work time to do everything but to finish in Friday I need more work time or it will be very stressful.

Love of the Land
The Native Americans love nature, it's how they live their life. Everything they do is based off the way Nature works, they respect the animals, the woods, etc. I don't respect earth as much as others but I do respect it more than others. My family does recycle and we pick up any litter in our yard but if it were up to me, I would live like the Native Americans but maybe not in a tepee. It makes me upset to see how disrespectful AMericans are to the Indians because the way they live their life shouldn't be any of our concern and we should be using some knowledge from them to help us americans get further in our life's and not pollute so much.

GoGreenProject
My progress so far on my project is that I finished reading my book and I have completed the reading proposal sheet, also I have all my supplies that I need to start my lab. I will hopefully start my research, poem, get started on my lab and collect come data. So far I do not have any questions for any teachers but if I would come across one, I would ask the teacher right away.

PSA its your turn
What I can do to help the environment is by unplugging a lot of unneeded or appliances I don't use, also when I get my license instead of driving everyday to school I could drive once a week and take the bus the rest of the week. The video is pretty inspiring, it makes you think about all the things and questions they asked. They are also right about only we can make a difference and I do believe one day we will run out and have no were to go. With the knowledge Mr. Brester gave us we could make a video or a website with facts, opinions, answers, options, and ways to help.

Mulberry Street
When I went under anesthesia during my surgery I had the most amazing day of my life. As I fell asleep a unicorn named Gorge flew me too the famous city in the Philippines called Makati. As I was there Gorge took me to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, were the statue of Benigno Aquino, Jr was honored. He explained that Benigno was a governor for the Philippines, he was taken by the U.S. and put in jail and was on trial. After a couple years he was able to come back to his country and take charge again. Soon after his arrival he was assassinated. The Philippines then made a day were they worship him, made statues in his honor and renamed the Airport. I was fascinated by all this information that I didn't realize that he flew me to Bangkok, Thailand. While we were there a huge festival was going on, there was water being thrown, water being sprayed everywhere, and a beauty contest.Gorge explained that the reason there was a festival was because during April 13-15 was Thailand's New year. While he was trying to talk to me a group of little boys came up to me and started a water fight. Right before one boy soaked me Gorge got me out of there quick. As we were flying in the sky, Gorge said he had a couple more places we had to go and the next stop was Jiddah, Saudi Arabia. In Jiddah, we flew to Al-Balad which is old buildings that's history goes back 2,500 years.I didn't find that as entertaining as the next stop which was Nigeria, Africa. In Nigeria Gorge took me to another festival that had so many different dances and music. In different areas there were big circles that had groups of people doing cultural dances. As I was standing there one Nigerian girl pulled me into the circle were her friends and her were doing a dance; her friends and I had a blast! The dance than ended and Gorge said it was time to go to Agra, India. In Agra I saw one of the most beautiful places ever, the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is India’s most recognized monument and is also one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It’s a tomb that contains the body of Mumtaz Mahal, which is the wife of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. He had it built to show his love for her. It's made out of marble and took 22 years and 20 000 workers to complete. I never wanted to leave but before I knew it I was waking up in my hospital bed. After my adventure I would get a minor surgery done everyday.

Conserving Energy
There are only a few ways that my family conserve energy, by changing our light bulbs to fluorescent light bulbs that don't cost a lot, uses 75% less energy than a regular light bulb, and it lasts 10 times longer. Another way we save energy is during the summer we use our windows and fans to cool our home instead of our sir conditioner that will cost us 7% to 10% more money. Also our family has a programmable thermostat, which means it changes the temperature to your schedule so your not always changing on your own and it saves 15% of your money. The last way we save energy is by having/planting tress and shrubs by our home, if you plant trees or shrubs about a foot to two feet from your house you can save up to 40% on your electric bill. The reason is because the trees block of heat from the sun that will hit your house, they also they create a dead airspace that shields against cold or hot outdoor temperatures.

Student Led Conference
My progress in the presentation for the student led conference is pretty far. I have a couple more things to put in my power point and gather some of my best work form other classes. This project at first I thought it was difficult but as I started working was actually pretty easy. The only hard part that I'm stuck on is my strengths and weaknesses. Like I just stated my main concern is my weaknesses and strengths but I have some written down but I know I could do better on them. Im also concerned about how to actually present this, I hate presentations and I have never done this before. To be able to present on Thursday I have to finish my actual presentation, go over what I'm going to say, and then gather whatever I need for my presentation.

Bio
My name is Halimat Ismaila, I'm from Nigeria, Africa. I live in small home with my mother, father, little brother, and three of my cousins. When I was 15 my family took in my three cousins because their parents couldn't afford to feed them. I was born in Nigeria, Africa, January 31st, 1984. My father is a taxi driver and is gone most of the day, my mother is a nanny and stays at home to do house work. She cooks our food, cleans the house, does the wash, and while she's doing all that she watch's three kids form our town. My brother and I have been home schooled becuase we didn't have enough money to send both of us. After a while my parent's saved up and let me go to Asero High School.
When I was younger kids from my neighbor hood and I, use to have races to see who could run the fastest from one end of the street to another. I always won but sometimes my best friend, Nkoyo, would win or we would tie. Her family had more money than us, so she went to school when she was young to. My favorite thing to do was to run, I could run and run forever until I ran out of breath. In high school I was on the track team and our school always placed good anywhere from 5th to 1st. At one of my track meets, I was told that a scout was there to watch me run. After my meet the scout wanted me to go train at his gym and he even offered me a scholarship. I declined his scholarship to stay behind and help out around the house but I did tell him I would love to train with him at his gym. After months of training he took me to the 2008 Olympics and I ran the 100, 200, and 400 meter race. He was so happy with me that I'm going to the 2012 Olympics in London, you have no idea how excited I am!
Feedback
Doing the video was easy, yet very difficult. It was difficult because you could only do a 2 minuet video and had to get rid of a lot of my scenes to make it all fit. I understood it a lot easier doing something like this and because I read it on Sparknotes in modern english. I like taking test, like we did for Of Mice and Men, but it was also fun to do all these other activities for the book.

olympics
If I could be in any Olympic event it would be track because I love running and it is like my life. I feel like I could actually win a medal maybe not gold but possibly a bronze. Another event would be basketball, I played 3 years and I think it's really fun. It would be amazing to be in the Olympics and just to have the experience of being in it or even watching them in person would be cool. The Olympic's don't mean much to me other than a couple events; I watch a certain events here and there but the summer olympics are a little better than the winter even though they are both pretty entertaining. I believe the Olympics represent a lot! Some of those things are culture, it brings people together, and friendship. Culture because it brings different types of cultures together where everyone can experience it and see how different people experience the Olympics, act at them, or how they prepare themselfs for it. They bring people together because it brings together different countries and it stops any wars or fights between countries while they are at the olympics and they don't fight as a nation (other than for the gold medal). They represent friendship because by bringing the nation together they also support one another, makes everyone equal, and normally when the countries are there they make friends and one of the ring's/colors represent friendship which will be gained at the Olympics.

Movie
If I were Xiaochun, I would have kept playing. If I couldn't have convinced my "dad" to stay and let me take lessons with someone else; even if they were cheaper. If we couldn't afford living there or the lessons I would have still gone back with him and even kept playing. When he found out that his "father" wasn't his real dad and it happened to me, I would have gotten upset but I would still love him as my true father and lived with him. The decision he made by leaving the night before the recital was a bad idea. He could have at least stayed until after then even before he played begged for his dad to stay until it was over or taken a train after the recital was over.
Some of the pros for the decision was that he got his family, he found out the truth about his life and is happy, also that he let that one girl preform instead of him. Some cons would be that he would never find out if he could have actually made it to be famous and he wasted a lot of money on lessons when he didn't fall through with his plans.

Weekly Blog: Netwons Laws Vs. Daily Life
Newtons Laws can relate to daily life in many, many ways. Some of those ways are, if you were to take a sharp turn in a car your body is still moving the forward direction and when you suddenly turn you bang your head on the back of the seat again, if you jump on a trampoline and push down and the trampoline pushes back up with an equal force in the opposite direction, and a common one is one you roll a ball, its gonna keep rolling unless you stop it.
I'm not exactly sure how Newtons Laws relate to Social Studies but I know there are some ways it relates to Romeo and Juliet. Those things are when Romeo sits in his room or anyone sits down or lays in bed, it causes a one of the Newtons Laws and in the first Act scene 1, the sword fight between the two different castles also has something to do with Newtons Laws.

Weekly Blog
The Academy is different type of environment for me to work in. It makes me pretty upset to hear that it will not be offered next year because in the academy we use computers all the time, I'm the computer geek so this class works well with me. There are many reason to why the academy works well for me, some of those reasons are that when we have a project we get like a week too a couple weeks to work on and that takes a bunch of stress away, also that each project has a little something to do each subject which makes three to four different projects one. The freedom and free time we get in the academy is awesome and it gives you a bit of time to relax and do other homework or work time to do homework from the academy. Sense I have joined the academy, I have gotten much more confidence in presenting in front of peers. The academy makes you present in front of some very important people that most classes don't get the opportunity to do. That's what the academy is for though, making you deal and figure out answers to real life problems. Another reason why I like the academy is because we get so much more teacher time than other students in regular classes. What I mean by teacher time is like one to one time, we get our questions answered right away, they help us on stuff that we truly don't get, and they actually care about us. In other classes the teacher doesn't really get time to answer your questions because they have 30 other people to teach, they don't care because it's not their grade it's yours so it's your responsibility not theirs, and they don't get to sit down with you because they only have 40 minuets to teach something. The last thing that I enjoy about the academy is that it's the last four hours of the day so if we learn something in class and we don't understand it we get extra time to go over it and practice it.

Personal Blog#14 1/10/12-1/14/12
This week in the ILA, we had so much time to work on our final project or missing work. I feel pretty confident in my project and hope I will get a pretty good grade. For English this week we took a mock/pre test for grammar, also, she taught us how to write with commas, were to place them, when to place them, and a short lesson on titles. For Social Studies we also had a small meeting that went over how Wisconsin wants to try and reserve/save the plants, animals, and the like old parks. When we went to Art this week we had all three class's to work on our water color picture's of Wisconsin landscape. If we finished with that early, then he gave us a little square piece of paper that had different colors on them and we had to use oil pastels to recreate it on another sheet of paper. This week in Science class, we did an experiment were we burned different chemicals to see the reaction. It was a really cool lab and I could do it all day! After he taught us how to bond different equations to make it one.
